Advanced Writing Class Workshop

“You can make anything by writing.” C.S. Lewis

This class will build on what we did in the previous workshop, by continuing using the

Six Traits Writing process. We will work on perfecting a 5 or 7 paragraph essay, work

on character development, word choice, as well as dive a little deeper into using an

academic voice when writing.

There WILL be weekly writing assignments.

Ms. Affleck will send out a supply list 2 weeks before class.

Class dates: for 2026: January 8, 15, 22, & 29 February 5, 12, 19, & 26 March 5, 12, 19, & 26

They will write poetry; instructions; an advertisement; a narrative, persuasive or an opinion essay; and try a short graphic story. Your student will have fun learning to use their creativity in writing.

The class format will be a combination of lecture, discussions, and a lot of writing.
We will address grammar during class also. 
There WILL be homework assigned weekly.
