Algebra One

This Algebra course will take your student through the fundamentals of Algebra and Geometry ---requirements for High School graduation. The curriculum used features an incremental approach--"step by step".  With this approach, Algebra is NOT difficult, only "different". This class will give your students the tools and skills required to successfully work through Algebra One. Topics covered will include:             The basics of Algebra: working with fractions and decimals, percentages, positive and negative numbers, the order of operations; working with variables, algebraic expressions, equations and their solutions; roots and powers, polynomials, and quadratic equations      The fundamentals of Geometry: working with a variety of shapes, area, volume, perimeter, the circumference of circles, and the Pythagorean Theorem; an introduction to graphing: the equations of a line and its graph.   The curriculum used is Saxon: Algebra 1: An Incremental Development, 2nd Ed.
