Algebra 1

Full-year course. This course focuses on problem-solving, logic, and engagement with upper-level mathematical concepts. Topics include but are not limited to: evaluation of multi-variable expressions, distribution and factoring, single and multivariable linear equations, ratios and percents, direct, inverse, and joint proportion, graphing lines using slope formula, intercepts, inequalities, and quadratic equations. Materials: Saxon Algebra ½ student textbook, computer or laptop with internet connection Assignments: Using Google Classroom and class website Office Hours: By appointment using Google Hangouts for additional tutoring assistance    Course Format:  On-line course instruction with live classes through Google Meet (students speak with instructor in real time, live chat with the instructor and other students, instructor lead critical engagement with course materials in real-time). Pre-Algebra

Full-year preparatory course for Algebra I. Pre-algebra focuses on problem-solving skills and engagement with numbers and terms to increase mathematical vocabulary and confidence. Topics include but are not limited to: review of arithmetic skills, single and multi-variable equations, data analysis, introduction to number theory, graphing, measurement, exponents, square roots, and introduction to geometry.
