This Algebra course will take your student through the fundamentals of Algebra and Geometry ---requirements for High School graduation. The curriculum used features an incremental approach--"step by step".  With this approach, Algebra is NOT difficult, only "different". This class will give your students the tools and skills required to successfully work through Algebra One. Topics covered will include:             The basics of Algebra: working with fractions and decimals, percentages, positive and negative numbers, the order of operations; working with variables, algebraic expressions, equations and their solutions; roots and powers, polynomials, and quadratic equations      The fundamentals of Geometry: working with a variety of shapes, area, volume, perimeter, the circumference of circles, and the Pythagorean Theorem; an introduction to graphing: the equations of a line and its graph.   The curriculum used is Saxon: Algebra 1: An Incremental Development, 2nd Ed. Spanish 1 (college prep)

Spanish 1 introduces students to beginning Spanish. Students will learn how to ask and answer questions in Spanish, give and follow directions, purchase items, make small talk, and present the gospel. The textbook is rich with activities to help students gain confidence with the Spanish language. The class will focus on the major components of learning a language: speaking, listening, reading and writing, as well as the culture of native Spanish speakers. Class activities will include lecture, quizzes, students interacting with each other in Spanish, listening comprehension, class presentations, and the Verb Ball. Spanish 2 (College Prep)

Come join me and the "Verb Ball" for this continuation of Spanish 1! This Spanish 2 course is a continuation of Spanish 1, using Bob Jones "Spanish 2 for Christian Schools." Class and homework will focus on good communication skills, ability to talk about a wide variety of topics, immersion in the Spanish language and Hispanic culture, speaking about the past, present and future, all from a Christian perspective. Throughout the class, students will learn Bible verses and learn more about the Christian faith.  Through this course your student will be able to:      Talk about a wide range of topics, including school, family and making friends, going to the store, finance, transportation, politics, music, animals, the Creation Story, basic medical communication, dreams and aspirations and cooking.      Speak in the past, present and future tenses, allowing for a wider range of communication.  An emphasis will be made on mastering these tenses and familiarity with irregular verbs.
