General Science

Apologia: General Science This is a true General Science course covering a variety of branches of science including astronomy, meteorology, oceanography, earth study, geology, paleontology, and environmental science modules giving students a solid foundation in that broad field of study. This course is designed to help middle schoolers transition from elementary science to the middle school world.

This class is ideal for grades 7th-9th but I am open to other grades on a case-by-case basis.  Curriculum purchased by parents is required.

Government (College Prep)

American Government fulfills the first part of the 12th grade history core curriculum. The class will consist of lectures, Q&A sessions, current events, projects and case studies. We will approach local, state and federal government from a biblical perspective. There is much discussion and the class is highly interactive and will stir the Christian student to pray for their current government, and support its biblical beginnings and future. High School Biology Co-op

High School Biology Co-Op

 

Using Berean Builders’ Discovering Design with Biology as the text, this college-preparatory, laboratory-based biology course offers high school students a rigorous introduction to the general study of biology.  This class will focus on performing the labs and experiments only for Biology. Materials will be provided for each student to have their own setup for each lab/experiment.  The coursework and tests are to be completed at home, at the parents’ discretion. The class will be organized by Rachel Basta and Ashley Archuletta, and we will have a sign-up sheet for parent instructors at Open House.

 

Requirements: Discovering Design with Biology Textbook. A few are available in the HERC library.

Cost: To be determined based on cost of dissection kits and additional lab materials required.  $40 HERC fee required.

Intro to Drafting

Course description: This one-semester class would go over by hand technical and Architectural drafting, touching on real world applications for both. We would cover the basics and some of the principles used in drafting, focusing heavily on practicing skills learned in class. Drafting is the ability to make precise drawings on paper, and draftspersons usually draw buildings, machinery, and infrastructure. This skill is also used in the fields of Engineering and Architecture.
